I know this has come up here before, but a lot of new people have joined the community recently, and the group in question is lining up around 240,000 people for tonight, so it is worth saying again.
These "pump" groups on Discord, Telegram and elsewhere are large-scale scams. They announce that a particular coin will be pumped at a particular time. The admins load up on that coin beforehand, wait for the crowd to push the price up, then empty their wallets into it and the price collapses.
After every "pump" they wipe the group history, so nobody left holding the bag can warn the members who join next.
It is also built like a pyramid: the more people you invite, the earlier you are told which coin it will be. That is one of the uglier things in this industry.
And legally it sits in a grey zone at best.
